Prime is best known for fast delivery, but membership can also include entertainment, music, reading, photo storage, gaming, family sharing and access to selected deals. Whether it represents good value depends on which of those benefits you would actually use.
Prime includes unlimited One-Day Delivery on millions of eligible UK items. Same-Day and Overnight options are also available in eligible areas and can depend on order value, stock, postcode and order time.
Amazon Day can let members choose a preferred day for eligible deliveries, making it easier to group purchases and receive several orders together.
Prime can include fast grocery-delivery benefits in selected areas. Availability, participating stores, minimum spends and delivery terms vary.
Watch included films, television programmes, Amazon Originals and selected live sports. Advertising can appear in Prime Video content, and some additional channels or titles cost extra.
Prime members can access a very large catalogue of music and podcasts without separate Music Unlimited membership. Listening features and playback options depend on Amazon's current Music Prime terms.
Prime can include gaming benefits such as downloadable games, in-game content and other member perks. The titles and benefits available change over time.
Prime Reading provides access to a rotating selection of books, magazines, comics and other reading. In the UK, First Reads can also provide early access to a selected forthcoming Kindle title each month at no additional cost.
Prime currently includes unlimited full-resolution photo storage plus 5 GB of video storage, with access from supported phones, tablets and computers.
Selected Prime benefits can be shared through Amazon Family with one other adult in the household and up to four child profiles. The benefits that can be shared vary by service.
Prime members can receive access to selected member-only offers and major shopping events such as Prime Day. Amazon also offers early access to some time-limited deals.
Amazon periodically includes additional benefits or partner offers with Prime. These can cover areas such as entertainment, food delivery, groceries or other services, but individual offers can start, change or end.
Someone who uses delivery, video, music, reading or photo storage regularly may get much more value from Prime than somebody interested in only one benefit. It is worth considering what you would genuinely use.
Eligible new members may be offered an Amazon Prime free trial. Amazon determines eligibility and the current trial terms.
